Dr. John Parks was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina. As an elementary school fifth-grader, Dr. Parks had the unique opportunity to attend a week-long program at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. The purpose of this program was to give younger students a glimpse into what veterinary medicine was all about. After attending this program, Dr. Parks knew that veterinary medicine was exactly what he wanted to do in life.
Dr. Parks gained invaluable experience with various small animal and equine veterinary practices during his high school and college years. He graduated in May 2004 from Duke University with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. From there, Dr. Parks attended veterinary school at North Carolina State University and graduated in May 2011.
Dr. Parks is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP), the Society for Theriogenology (SFT), the North Carolina Cattlemen's Association, the Alamance County Cattlemen's Association, the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. These memberships allow Dr. Parks to keep up with current trends and technologies which can then be passed along to clients.
Dr. Parks has a special interest in equine dentistry, equine and bovine reproduction, and livestock handling. He has taken advantage of multiple opportunities to further his knowledge in each of these areas in order to provide better and more complete services to his clients.
